In October 2011 I launched my first wedding collection of 1950′s inspired wedding gowns, 7 very different dresses, ranging from £90 – £1,200. You can view them here. But before I started Oh My Honey I was making bespoke wedding dresses for brides that wanted something a bit different, and I still do this alongside running Oh My Honey, but spaces are limited and I can only design for up to 7 brides per year.
Whether you are looking for a gown that is pure elegance, inspired by a dress from a Hollywood film, or something totally theatrical, I can make you the dress that you have always wished for.
My bespoke designs include dresses inspired by 18th Century design, a red and black themed wedding dress and a dress covered in Swarovski crystals and hand cut silk flowers. With experience in costume, fashion and couture, I can combine my skills in my varied areas of dressmaking to put together an individual design that has been personally handcrafted here in my studio, using fine materials and techniques.
Knowing that all eyes will be on you, you will want to look fantastic, but also breathtakingly beautiful for your husband to be. Having a couture gown designed and made for you, to your tastes and individual measurements ensures that you will feel very special, but still have your personality in the style you have chosen.
Initially we will meet for an informal consultation in the relaxed setting of my home studio, and we can get to know each other and talk about your wedding plans and most importantly, your dress! You may already know exactly what you want your dress to look like, or you may be looking for inspiration. Bring pictures of dresses or inspirational pictures from magazines or the internet, and we can discuss styles and explore ideas.
I will then sketch the design for you, and another appointment will be booked to take the measurements to make up the toille for the first fitting – this is a version of your dress in inexpensive material to see the shape, style and fit, the design is refined according to the clients wishes and with my guidance. It is from this pattern that your wedding dress is made. After this the materials will be bought and the dress is created. There is usually a minimum of four fittings, throughout these stages you can see the dress really come to life, fitted to your individual figure, and embellishments and finishing techniques are applied.
Prices from £1,400, and six months is the ideal lead time, although depending on the project, it may be possible to create your dress in a shorter time frame.
